Tasting Notes

A bold cherry forward nose with notes of raspberry, cinnamon spice and earthiness. The bright, almost candied, cherry dominant fruitiness carries over to the palette, deftly balanced with lively tannins and an impressively stayed finish. Pairs well with duck breast, venison and a variety of pork dishes such as pulled pork of ribs. Also an excellent pairing with roasted or grilled mushrooms.

"Sullivan looks to his favourite Niagara vineyard, Nedelko Vineyard on the Twenty Mile Bench for this Pinot Noir from the warm 2020 vintage in Ontario. It’s a classic iron fist in a velvet glove Pinot with a bold nose of black raspberries, cassis, earthy/spicy notes, and anise. It has firm tannins on the palate but reveals pretty red berries, earthy notes and anise that is all together rich and complex with a spicy, lifted finish. “Winemaker Dan Sullivan has captured the varietal essence as it is reflective of the Twenty Mile Bench with scrapes of fruit skins transforming into that which crusts the outside of meaty cured salumi. Wildly aromatic but also ground into peppery earth. “Rosehall's 2020 pinot noir from the Nedelko Vineyard in Niagara's Twenty Mile Bench sub-appellation is a ripe and firm, well-structured example, with fruit shifting from red to black in this warm and generous vintage. I like the dusty grip of tannins on the palate, the caressing but fresh acids, and the well-integrated wood component.
