Winemaking:

A harvest marked by frequent rain changed and our usual plan to harvest our pinot noir grapes for rosé first and estate grapes destined for JCR last was flipped in 2021. This resulted in light yet wonderfully complex Pinot Noir fruit ideal for rosé with lively berry notes--a benefit of the additional hangtime. To help balance the lightness of the Pinot Noir fruit, we added a portion of estate Pinot Gris that had extended lees contact, building some extra structure and depth into the vintage. The aging was done entirely in stainless steel and put into bottle after only six months to preserve the freshness of the fruit flavours.

Tasting Notes:

A vibrant nose of strawberry and watermelon with some floral notes present. A refreshing burst of strawberry and tart cherry on the palate, with notes earthiness also detectable. The inclusion of estate Pinot Gris adds another level of depth and helps to round out and extend the finish.

Critical Acclaim:

“Minerally, saline-tinged nose of candied strawberries. Medium-bodied, just off-dry, fruity, strawberry and raspberry flavours with balancing acidity.“ 89 Points, Tony Aspler - The Wine Guy (29/09/22)
